So the idea behind these was to somehow convey the idea that a woman's body is extraordinary as it has the ability to bear children. These are just the basic first few projection shots, I drew a scan image (taken from my neighbour's first baby scan three years ago) and projected the drawing onto both my stomach and a friend's. These are the results. I'd like to see where I can go with this next semester.

Ante-natal prints
So, after 2 months of fannying about with prints, here are a couple of framed final-for-now pieces. Christmas assessments are in two weeks, so I'm just figuring out a way to display them all. Also my collection of printed ante-natal legs, which I think will be displayed hanging from individual red threads. Hopefully things will start to come together after Christmas and this damn dissertation has been handed in and is out of my life FOREVER.

Monoprint drawings
So, this semester, the pregnancy and birth theme continues (of course) and I've started by doing some simple monoprints. Hopefully I can practice the skill of drawing and not messing it up (if you mess up on a monoprint, there's no fixing it) and can create some larger ones with different images. I really like the fragile line that comes with monoprinting and the blotchy backgrounds, it seems to be the best way for me to capture the images I want to.

Teeth
Maps (2010)
I hate the dentist, so, so much, but when I had two teeth out, I kept them, because I knew I would do something with them. Here are my two teeth with someone else's two teeth, a memento of a relationship. Receipts and notes provide a background.
The least artistic summer ever
So my summer job as been in an oil company's reception. I've never felt quite so un-artistic. I thought maybe adding some stuff to this old thing would help bring back a spark, but I think I really just need to be back in a studio with a heap of sketchbooks and some ink. I'm craving using pens and ink, and perhaps some monoprint. Anyway, I did manage to spend some time on a beach at Gardenstown (is that the place? I don't remember what it was called. It's beside Macduff, anyway.) which was nice.

A wee while ago....
These are photographs of one of my 2nd year sketchbooks. Most of my second year was spent looking at relationships, whether partners/mothers/daughters/grandparents etc. I worked in large scale drawings sometimes using projections, but I like the way these images look just taken from my sketchbook on a smaller scale. My current work on pregnancy must have stemmed from thinking about relationships and where they go, circumstances etc...
Belly Button Wall
As part of my current work detailing pregnancy, childbirth and women's views on the topics, I began painting and drawing belly buttons on my studio wall. This is the result part of the way through. The idea behind it is to draw attention to everyone's previous attachment to their mothers, in this case physical, but I plan to look into the mental aspects of attachment to people, whether relatives or otherwise.
Procrastination
As I was supposed to be writing an essay, I kept putting it off, and this was one of my procrastinatings. A wooden box with my legs/feet on it. I quite like it actually, not much and not really anything to do with my pregnancy/childbirth themed art at the moment, but useful. It holds my pens/paintbrushes now. I'm going to add images to the other sides too.
I did the essay eventually. Still waiting on the grade.....
